A commission to renovate the interior space of a one hundred ten year old brick
row house located in Washington DC’s Capital Hill. The design strategy was to
use materials common and affordable to create a contemporary and unique space.
Budget was of course a top concern, so materials such as phenolic plywood,
lucite, and concrete are all used together to create a modern and sensible
space. Issues of materiality, light, color and sound were all equally
considered design factors. |
